They’ll Eventually Cave

September 3rd, 2010

The House Democrats are sending a sternly worded letter to Obama warning that they’ll not support the Cat Food Commission’s recommendations to gut social security.

They’ll cave.  Guarantee you.  Just like they always do.  Oh, a few will peel off and not vote for the final measure but the House leadership will get enough republicans to sign on to pass the measure.

Your social security isn’t so secure.

Joan Walsh Just Doesn’t Get It

August 30th, 2010

Oh, she thinks that it’s Obama who doesn’t get it.  On the contrary, Obama gets it and he’s been very effective at getting done what he wants done.  If he hasn’t done something it’s by design and not by accident and certainly not because he doesn’t “get it”.

There are getting to be a lot of posts making the rounds in the liberal blogosphere and online news that resort to this sort of excuse making on Obama’s behalf.  “He doesn’t get it”.  “His hands are tied by Congress”.  Etc. etc. etc…. blah blah blah.

I can’t figure out if the people writing these posts are getting paid to make excuses on Obama’s behalf or if they’re really that stupid.  Maybe it’s both…

Bleah.

Yet another one of those fake media blitzes with everyone going on about things that no one really cares about.

The Religious Dogs of War

August 11th, 2010

The latest Christian vs. Muslim bar room brawl is occurring not just in the Middle East where most people think all the action is.  It’s happening right here at home too.  Over at that home of the luvvable libruls at TAP we have the typical librul response to the horrorible realization that Christians dislike Muslims.  Who knew?

Let’s review the matter a bit.  Christians believe Muslims are going to burn in hell forever.  Muslims believe Christians are infidels who deserve to be slaughtered.  Hmm… I wonder why they don’t like each other?  Let me think ‘pon it a bit.

You know, spiritual beliefs are fine by me.  I have my own views upon such matters that I’ll just keep to myself thank you very much, it’s none of your goddamn business.  And if you’re rational human being I’m sure you actually appreciate that attitude.

Hatred among religious groups is a direct consequence of their belief systems.  No amount of ecumenical pap can ever get around that.  Any given religion will claim to be the “one true way” to God.  If it didn’t claim that then it wouldn’t be a religion, see interalia Buddhism.  And for that matter, even Buddhism has been distorted in some places into a religion that demands adherence or dire consequences.

Very few people want to admit that the “War on Terror” is actually a religious and cultural war between two wholly incompatible world views.  It’s terrifying to think that we’ve gotten no where since the Crusades of a millenium ago.  We’re still the same superstitious, prejudiced, hateful and irrational apes that we were in the Middle Ages and I don’t care what shiny new technological toys we’ve developed.  If anyone ever wanted to admit the truth of our technology advances they’d see that most of the big gains have been accomplished in the service of wiping out enemies.

In the 8000 years or so since the human race developed agriculture and thus “civilization” I’ve seen no evidence that the species has evolved in any significant way from it’s paleolithic forbears.

When they come to round up your sons and daughters for the next round of religious war and accompanying slaughter, take my advice.  Hide them!

I’ll be gone a couple of weeks.  We’ll see if the site isn’t completely blown up when I get back.

I’ll be approximately here.

Update — before I leave I thought I’d leave a link to this great article by one of my favorite authors, Chris Hedges.

Tax Heaven

July 20th, 2010

Via the Poor Man I came across this article and a stand out quote:

“But in Pakistan, the lack of a workable tax system feeds something more menacing: a festering inequality in Pakistani society, where the wealth of its most powerful members is never redistributed or put to use for public good. That is creating conditions that have helped spread an insurgency that is tormenting the country and complicating American policy in the region”

Hmm… unfair redistribution of wealth leading to conditions helping to spread an insurgency.  I’ve seen that sort of thing in South and Central America.  Nice to see our elites working to bring the same sort of thing here.  How forward looking of them.  They’re really super smart.

What a Despicable Lot They Are

July 20th, 2010

There’s a news story about some poor woman working in the USDA who was forced to resign because of some artfully edited tape that made her look like a racist.  Nicely done by our enemies on the right, they get a scalp.

Further reading on the subject shows that the reason they’re getting the scalp is because of this as reported by Kevin Drum (or at least I think he should get attribution, if I’m wrong I’ll be glad to post a correction).

“Sherrod told CNN on Tuesday that she was told repeatedly to resign Monday afternoon after the clip surfaced. “They harassed me,” she said. “I got three calls from the White House. At one point they asked me to pull over to the side of the road and do it because you are going to be on Glenn Beck tonight”

That’s right… our Democratic President and his administration quake in their boots at the mere thought that the Mighty Mr. Glenn Beck may stamp his little feet and create a contretemps over this matter.  What a despicable lot they are.

This is where I am.  I hate and fear the Republicans and the right as I do all authoritarian figures and organizations.  But I can at least give them the due respect that they know what they believe in and they fight for it.  The liberals, the democrats are nothing but quislings for their corporate overlords.  A wholly despicable lot worthy of nothing but contempt.  They won’t fight for what they believe in, indeed they believe in nothing.  God I despise them.

This poor woman has been fired from her job because President Obama is a gutless piece of crap who believes in nothing except his own ambition and all the people who he has brought with him to the White House are an exact reflection of that.

Update — a point of clarification on a statement that I attributed to Kevin Drum, that actually serves to muddy the waters more in so far as what was actually said and by whom is here.

Whatever the case, it’s clear that Ms. Sherrod was thrown under the bus by the Obama administration and all I’ve had to say about that still stands.

Don’t you worry Dems

July 15th, 2010

You got things all wrapped up with this winning argument!  That’s right, Obama isn’t as bad as Bush!

That’s gonna win you folks some votes this fall for sure.  Yep…

Pathetic.

What’s deserve got to do with it?

July 12th, 2010

“But no kid ever asked to be born and they definitely don’t deserve to have their futures destroyed and their dreams shattered because some crazy people found their way into power in a crisis.”

“It’s an ugly scenario. I hope it doesn’t happen. But the Dems have got to make a better argument than they have been. And time is wasting.”

Just… wow.  I don’t even know what to say about that sort of tripe.

Let’s reword it to make it a bit more accurate.  The “kids” are going to get screwed by democrats who don’t give a rat’s ass about them and aren’t willing to fight for their well being.

And some folks keep voting for those pieces of fecal matter and, even worse, bothering to point out that they’ve got to make better “arguments”.

Bleah…
